In today’s business world it is not conceivable for a company not to have a website. No matter what field of work they’re in, having something on the internet is vital and it would just be naïve for an organization not to take that opportunity. However, since the digital world is overpopulated with sites, blogs and other inventions, getting the most out of a website can be a challenge. It’s not just about getting a site up and running, it is about making it attractive and different from the competition.
First of all, it is important to have in mind that everything begins with a first impression and first impressions don’t depend on written content or interesting sections of the site, they are mostly visual and if your site isn’t attractive to the eyes, most people won’t even be there long enough to look at the content. Design is always the first thing that impacts a user and depending on that, other things can leave an impression.
After the visual process, clients are always going to look for what is easy to use and look at. The order in which you place links, photographs and written content will always be an important factor. For example, it is a fact that people always look at websites from upper left to lower right, so always be sure to organize content in that order. The faster the client finds what he or she is looking for, the more popular the site will be, because let’s face it, nobody wants to spend a long time on a site, especially if it’s a client looking for specific products or services.
Finally, updating content and having your clients’ opinion in mind is crucial. If a user logs on to a site in two months and sees nothing new, chances are he will never be back. Additionally, if a client doesn’t like something about the site and that issue is not addressed, it is very probable that he/she will not be back either. Always remember, make it visually attractive, make it simple, and make it quick.
